About MECNZ

The Ski Patrol Programme is based in Wanaka. Live and learn amongst the mountains, lakes and rivers of the spectacular Southern Lakes region. Wanaka is an adventure destination, full of motivated people drawn to skiing/riding, mountain climbing, ski touring, rock climbing, mountain biking, paddling, parapenting, tramping and all things outdoors. Wanaka is a tourist town so there is a wide range of entertainment and places to visit right in your own backyard.

Pre season theoretical and non snow practical training takes place in our Wanaka classroom and in the outdoors environment surrounding Wanaka. The on snow practical elements of the Ski Patrol Programme takes place out of our unique "on snow" classroom in the middle of the Treble Cone Ski Area which is only 40 minutes drive from Wanaka. The on snow classroom provides the best possible training environment for those seeking a career in ski patrolling. This programme also includes a work placement where you are working with and being supervised by a New Zealand Ski patrol.

Our MECNZ tutors have come from senior positions in ski patrol and/or snow safety and each year spend time working as patrollers to remain current. They liaise with ski patrol managers and industry to ensure the programme is up to date and meeting the needs of the industry.

MECNZ has a fantastic reputation and many of our students enrol with us on recommendation from past and present students.
